The Financial Times quoted persons familiar with the matter as saying that Vale was working with Scotiabank to sell its stake in Vale New Caledonia, one of the world's largest nickel mines.
   Insiders said the company had negotiated with Chinese companies on possible sales, including China's Greenmeath. Reports said Vale declined to comment; Scotiabank and Grimm could not immediately be contacted for comment.
